"IN SEARCH OF THE MIRACULOUS"
SWEDEN 2011, 60 min
DIR: Pontus Alv

It has been five years since Pontus Alv’s film "The Strongest of the Strange" came out. Hard work behind and in front of the camera, the unconditional love for skateboarding, his scene and the DIY culture has now formed into yet another masterpiece. "In Search of the Miraculous" takes place around Scania, the southern part of Sweden, where Pontus and his friends reside. When most skaters go to Barcelona and other thirteen-spots-to-the-dozen-cities to film their parts in an environment far from their natural habitat, Pontus, Johan Linö-Waad and Danijel Todorovic has stayed on their turf to do the most of what is theirs, their hometown Malmö. The aim has been to show that it is possible to make things happen anywhere and that lack of spots breeds creativity.

"RULKER"
ESTONIA 2011, 17 min
DIR: Lauri Täht

A debut film by an Estonian skater-filmmaker Lauri Täht. “RULKER” surprised the Estonian skate scene last year with a bit of a different perspective and angle on looking at life, skateboarding and the city. It is not what one would typically expect from a skate film - no narrative has been divided into rider segments and the spot plays a bigger role than the trick. Inspired by science fiction director Tarkovsky's "Stalker" (filmed partly in Tallinn, by the way, the film shows a more poetic and peaceful side of skateboarding.

"MACHOTAILDROP"
USA 2009, 91 min
DIR: Corey Adams & Alex Craig

Winners of Fuel TV's million dollar short film contest, Corey Adams and Alex Craig have created a satirical indictment of our logo-laden, consumerist culture which is equal parts comedy and fable, and 100% just plain weird. Take the 1971 Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, set it at the enigmatic headquarters of the world's most famous skateboard conglomerate, imbue it with the off-kilter humour of Wes Anderson and the fantastical surrealism of Terry Gilliam and Michel Gondry, and you have Machotaildrop.

In this short film documenting Oakley's Josh Harrington on a trip to the seemingly cold and desolate northern european state of Estonia for the Simpel Session contest, we experience in his own words the solidarity of self-awareness of traveling to a foreign country, unable to adjust to your surroundings while still having to focus on putting himself in the mindset of riding in front of thousands of people on a BMX bike.
